5 Ways to Celebrate in Houston this Year


The Lunar New Year of 2022 has arrived and this year, we are celebrating the year of the tiger. Over the next couple of weeks, Houston will be buzzing with celebrations. So, here's what the annual holiday is all about. The first new moon of the lunar calendar begins on February 1st and celebrations continue until the first new moon appears. During this time, exciting dragon and lion dances, cultural dance troupe performances, fireworks, and gift-giving take place. So many food festivals also take place as well as large family dinners. In this article, we'll give you five ways to celebrate either virtually or in-person!


1. Lunar New Year Feast at Phat Eatery

Phat Eatery, located in Katy, TX, will be hosting special dining experiences on February 1st at 7pm, and on February 5th and 6th at 11:30am. The restaurant will be serving traditional holiday dishes like lump crab, Peking duck rolls, fried rice and roti. Lee's Golden Dragon will be performing while customers are served family-style. Seats are $78 per guest and $28 for children ages 4 to 12.

2. The Texas Lunar Festival

The 25th annual Texas Lunar Festival will be virtual this year and you can watch the festivities from your own home. Tune in to Channel 15.3 or on YouTube to watch STV Houston Life cover several events this month.
